Shannon M. Carey

Chief Development Officer

Shannon M. Carey (she/her) is the Chief Development Officer at the National Institute for Reproductive Health and NIRH Action Fund, joining the staff in July of 2018. Prior, Shannon served as the Vice President of Development & Communications at Urban Resource Institute where she was responsible for overseeing all fundraising as well as marketing, communications, and branding. With more than 28 years of experience, Shannon has held a wide variety of leadership roles prior to joining NIRH and history of successful fundraising campaigns in her work through organizations including Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), Urban League of Broward County, Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership (ANDP), Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta, United Way of Atlanta and United Way of Miami-Dade. Ms. Carey holds a BA in Criminal Justice from Indiana University.
