Following Greitens Resignation, NIRH Pledges Continued Support for Local Reproductive Health Partners
Statement from National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) President Andrea Miller
New York, NY – Following Missouri Governor Eric Greitens’ resignation in the face of accusations of sexual and political misconduct, National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) President Andrea Miller released the following statement today calling on incoming Governor Michael Parson to reject his predecessors’ restrictive reproductive health policies and pledging support for state and local reproductive rights advocates including NIRH partner organization, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri.
“Former Governor Eric Greitens leaves a personal and political legacy defined by efforts to control the bodies and decimate the rights of women,” said Andrea Miller, President of the National Institute for Reproductive Health. “Greitens’ resignation offers Missouri an opportunity to chart a new course on reproductive health, rights, and justice. Leaders in St. Louis have already demonstrated that progress on reproductive rights is possible. Moving forward, we urge incoming Governor Parson to reject his predecessor’s reckless and restrictive reproductive health policies and pledge full support to our local partners in their efforts to chart this new path forward.”
