Repro Equity Action Lab & Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin

NIRH is pleased to partner with the Reproductive Equity Action Lab (REAL) and Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) to help protect and expand abortion access in Wisconsin by removing costs as a barrier to care. Wisconsin law prohibits Medicaid coverage of abortion care, meaning that even patients with health coverage are forced to pay out-of-pocket, a burden that falls disproportionately on low-income communities. Together, we will work to build and sustain reproductive freedom in Wisconsin by making abortion affordable for all.

The Reproductive Equity Action Lab is part of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and conducts research grounded in Reproductive Justice to advance evidence-based, transformative policies. REAL brings substantial expertise, experience, and resources to the Policy Lab through its multidisciplinary team, robust research portfolio, and established community partnerships. REAL’s team includes researchers, clinicians, and scholars with expertise across public health, economics, obstetrics and gynecology, and social science, enabling the lab to take a mixed-methods approach to studying reproductive health and inequities.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin brings direct connections to many of the patients in Wisconsin accessing abortion care and the expertise of being the state’s oldest and largest abortion provider. PPWI’s community storytelling helps translate data and lived experience into public understanding and political will.
