Statement by National Institute for Reproductive Health President Andrea Miller
“Once again, the U.S. Senate learned that the people across this country will not stand by as legislators try to rescind the critical advances of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The failure of the destructive ‘Graham-Cassidy’ was a victory for people across this country who need affordable access to preventive care, reproductive care, and the full range of essential health benefits. With the latest repeal effort behind us, it’s time to focus on protecting, improving and expanding access to reproductive health care.
“The National Institute for Reproductive Health commends all those who took action against this bill, and those senators who pledged to vote down ‘Graham-Cassidy.’ It is time to lift up the underserved communities of America, rather than take away the right to affordable health care. It’s time that we make access to the full range of reproductive health care a reality for people of color, low-income people, young people, immigrants, rural people, and LGBTQ people. The National Institute for Reproductive Health arms advocates and policy makers in states and cities with the tools they need to ensure that all women can access abortion and other reproductive health care affordably, in a timely manner, and with support and dignity.”
