Statement by National Institute for Reproductive Health President Andrea Miller
“On March 7, 2018, Alejandra Pablos was torn from our community by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in retaliation for leading peaceful protests. The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) calls for Alejandra Pablos to be immediately released and restored to her community. By targeting Alejandra for raising her voice, ICE has targeted all of us who speak out for justice.
“Jailing people for exercising their constitutional right to free speech and dissent is a cruel tactic intended to weaken our communities. Yesterday’s action by ICE is a call to action. NIRH stands with Alejandra Pablos and fellow advocates for reproductive freedom the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH): ICE must cease callous attacks like these on the leaders who activate and empower our communities to demand justice. NIRH asks supporters to join our calls for the freedom of Alejandra Pablos by writing a letter to the court requesting her immediate release.”
