About National Institute for Reproductive Health

The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) and the National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund (NIRH Action Fund) are advocacy groups that fight for just and equitable access to reproductive health care and build political power for reproductive freedom. The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) and the National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund (NIRH Action Fund), advocacy groups that fight for just and equitable access to reproductive health care, are seeking a full-time Policy Coordinator to help them in building political power for reproductive freedom. 

This is a benefits eligible, full-time, non-exempt position that will require 35 hours of work, with flexibility, during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM. The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience.  

THE ROLE 

Reporting to, and working closely with, the Manager of State Legislative & Public Affairs, the Policy Coordinator provides essential administrative, logistical, and research support to advance NIRH’s policy, legislative, and government affairs work. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth coordination across meetings, projects, and coalition efforts, and helps maintain accurate tracking and documentation of NIRH’s policy activities. 

The Policy Coordinator supports both internal operations and external engagement, including scheduling, policy tracking, and compliance, while helping to draft and manage materials that advance reproductive health, rights, and justice. This role offers opportunities for growth in legislative affairs, policy development, and advocacy communications. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Administrative and Logistical Support 

  • Manage scheduling of internal meetings and meetings with our state and local partners and policymakers.  
  • Maintain the organization of files and resources across SharePoint and Teams. 
  • Support project management for newsletters, board updates, and other recurring deliverables. 
  • Track state and local legislation and maintain systems for keeping team members apprised of updates Assist in planning and logistics for lobby days, weeks of action, and digital advocacy activities. 
  • Support with drafting policy materials, such as testimony, comment letters, sign-on letters, and talking points. 
  • Attend national and state coalition meetings as assigned for note taking and reporting updates to the internal team. 

Research Support 

  • Conduct preliminary research such as gathering statistics, citations, and background materials. 
  • Draft and format policy documents for leadership review; make changes and finalize following review. 
  • Attend and contribute to speaking events, trainings, and presentations as part of professional development. 
  • Contribute to building and managing a culture of inclusion and equity at an increasingly diverse organization.  

WHAT YOU’LL BRING 

  • A minimum of two years of experience in policy, advocacy, legislative affairs, or a related field. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Familiarity with legislative processes and government structures at the state or local level (preferred). 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting and proofreading. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Teams (or similar platforms). 
  • Commitment to reproductive freedom, gender equity, and racial and social justice principles. 
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a collaborative, mission-driven environment
