NEW YORK, NY – The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) President Andrea Miller released the following statement today regarding changes proposed by the Trump administration to narrowly define gender under Title IX:

“The Trump administration’s proposed assault on the transgender community is the latest in a string of abhorrent and reprehensible attempts to control individuals’ decisions about their bodies. To eradicate essential recognitions and protections of transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people is unconscionable. We will stand proudly with the transgender, non-conforming and non-binary community as we continue to fight back against Trump and Pence’s hateful policies and work towards a world where every individual has the freedom to exist and the ability to control their reproductive and sexual lives.”
