Following the historic confirmation of Judge Katanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States, Andrea Miller, President of the National Institute for Reproductive Health and NIRH Action Fund, issued the following statement:

“NIRH is thrilled to join the chorus of voices in celebrating the incredible history made today: the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States. Judge Jackson is tremendously accomplished and qualified, and her dedication to public service and equal justice are deeply welcomed. The nation has waited far too long to see a Black woman on the nation’s highest bench, and we are thrilled to see this moment brought to fruition with soon-to-be Justice Jackson. With much work ahead for a more just and equitable country and so many rights on the line, it’s never been more critical to have such an experienced and thoughtful Justice on the Court.

The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) is an advocacy group that works directly with state and local reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations and allied groups to protect and advance access to reproductive healthcare. For more than 40 years, NIRH has been partnering with communities to build coalitions, launch campaigns, and successfully advocate for policy change. NIRH’s strategy is to go on the offensive and focus on communities where change is needed, so the fabric of reproductive freedom becomes harder to tear apart.
