Arizona Family Health Partnership

Since 1974, Arizona Family Health Partnership (AFHP) has been a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to making reproductive healthcare and education available and accessible to all individuals in Arizona, particularly those lacking resources and traditionally reluctant to seek health care. AFHP helps coordinate the services funded by the federal Title X program and run by partner agencies in 11 of Arizona’s 15 counties.

NIRH worked with AFHP from 2018-2020 to increase the availability of immediate postpartum LARC in hospitals across the state. A leader of the Arizona LARC Coalition, AFHP used its findings on barriers to LARC reimbursement and provision to address challenges at individual birthing hospitals, including community and rural hospitals. After successfully working with Medicaid to increase reimbursement for inpatient LARC devices in 2019, AFHP also continued its advocacy with both private and public payers to improve reimbursement.
