In 2017, Pro-Choice NC launched a grassroots campaign in support of a local resolution calling for the repeal of federal and state abortion coverage bans as a step towards economic and reproductive justice in Durham County. Pro-Choice NC kicked off their campaign during the BOLD the Future Week of Action and alongside coalition partners, educated county officials on the importance of these issues, laying the groundwork for passage of a local resolution in the future. In 2014, with NIRH’s support, Pro-Choice NC engaged in public education, community engagement, and coalition building around the regulatory process for the state’s new TRAP law. A critical component of this work was engaging non-traditional allies and youth. The organization also contributed to a process that prevented Department of Health and Human Services regulations from significantly restricting the practice of abortion clinics in North Carolina. In 2011, Pro-Choice NC released a report on crisis pregnancy centers and successfully advocated for passage of a resolution opposing their deceptive practices in the Chapel Hill Town Council.
