The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) and the National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund (NIRH Action Fund) are advocacy groups that fight for just and equitable access to reproductive health care and build political power for reproductive freedom. PEOPLE OPERATIONS MANAGER
The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) and the National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund (NIRH Action Fund), advocacy groups that fight for just and equitable access to reproductive health care, are seeking a full-time People Operations Manager to directly support the Finance and Operations department.
This is a benefits eligible, full-time non-exempt position that will require 35 hours of work, with flexibility, during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM ET. The annual salary for this position is $85,000.00, commensurate with experience.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the VP of Finance & Operations, the People Operations Manager will manage the day-to-day operations and contribute to the long-term strategy of people operations (HR) at NIRH and its Action Fund. This includes employee relations, recruiting, performance issues, conflict resolution, and benefits administration. The People Operations Manager will be instrumental in optimizing policies and processes supporting a positive and inclusive workplace culture and will help ensure a strong and stable infrastructure to support organizational growth. Equity and belonging are major areas of focus for NIRH and its Action Fund, and are the responsibility of the full Leadership Team, with the People Operations Manager playing a critical role.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Support with the development and implementation of NIRHs recruitment and retention strategy including but not limited to job identification and job description development, hiring and onboarding strategies, staff training and development opportunities, performance evaluations, stay interviews and supporting employees who are ready to exit.
- Manage the employee journey, including onboarding and recognition of employee accomplishments. Ensure employees feel valued, supported and cared for.
- Implement and manage comprehensive employee benefits, providing employees with information about health insurance options, retirement plan, employee assistance and other benefits. Ensures that education opportunities that relate to benefits, including open enrollment, are provided to employees.
- In coordination with the VPFO, ensure that NIRH/Action Fund complies with all applicable laws and regulations as a multi-state employer including state family leave, nonexempt laws, unemployment, workers compensation, paid time off, payroll taxes, and other requirements.
- Respond to requests and provide information to third parties such as verification of employment, support with processing disability and unemployment claims
- Provide coaching and mediation to employees on matters related to their role and performance at NIRH/Action Fund.
- Responsible for maintaining all platforms pertaining to People Operations, including the employee database, payroll and benefits administration platform, and timekeeping platforms.
- Support with ensure all current personnel policies are up to date and compliant with applicable employment laws.
- Responsible for distributing policies through an Employee Handbook and other documents and providing training to all employees.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Contribute to building a strong and collaborative team culture grounded in racial equity and inclusion.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- You have done this before—you have experience in a growth environment; 3+ years of experience working as a HR Generalist, Employee Relations Manager or the equivalent.
- Strong problem solving, reporting and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of payroll systems, experience with ADP Total Source a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to research and analyze problems at a high level, providing feedback, guidance, and direction.
- Working knowledge of the critical components of a successful HR department including employment law, performance management, resolving conflicts, having difficult conversations, employee engagement, training and maintaining employee files.
- Well-developed writing and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly across all levels of an organization.
- Discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, analyze and inform appropriately while maintaining the required sensibilities in handling confidential information.
