Progress Virginia

Progress Virginia drives powerful, values-based narratives to uplift and amplify grassroots voices through innovative digital communications and earned media strategies that advance progressive causes in Virginia.

After a significant shift in the composition of the Virginia legislature, NIRH supported Progress Virginia and REPRO Rising Virginia, along with the Virginia Pro-Choice Coalition in 2020 to pass legislation to remove some of the most significant and onerous restrictions on abortion in the commonwealth. The coalition built public support for abortion access and for the Reproductive Health Protection Act specifically, engaging the media, and working with lawmakers as they moved forward to enact this law in 2020.

NIRH is also workin with Progress Virginia as part of a cohort of organizations in Virginia on a long-term initiative to develop and advance an abortion rights vision, engage a new and broad base of supporters, and reduce shame and stigma by publicly promoting the affirmative value of abortion.
