Founded in 1999, the Eastern Massachusetts Abortion Fund (EMA Fund) has helped people who can’t afford the cost of their abortions. They work with hundreds of callers every year who need funding or logistical support to access abortion.
NIRH partnered with the EMA Fund to pass a resolution in the Cambridge City Council to reinstate abortion coverage by eliminating the Hyde Amendment. Together, we emphasized that such coverage is essential to ensuring socioeconomic status does not impact a person’s health care access. The resolution passed on April 1, 2013.
